What we measured
The three artifacts a lighting plan is actually drawn from. Every figure below comes off our own spec sheet; where we do not have a measurement, the page says so instead of estimating.
What the DS400D is for
A 400W linear top light in a 42-inch bar. 1,120 µmol/s over a 2ft × 4ft flowering footprint, in a form factor that lets you build a lighting plan from strips rather than panels — useful where bench widths are irregular, where a panel would shade a trellis, or where you want to add rows incrementally as a room comes online.
What you get
- 1,120 µmol/s, 400W at 277VAC.
- Linear form factor: 42.13" × 3.35" × 5.51", 7.2kg — lays out on any bench pitch without the fixed aspect ratio of a panel.
- 2ft × 4ft flowering, 3ft × 5ft vegetative coverage, 120° beam.
- 0-100% dimmer knob, 120-277VAC or 277-480VAC input, power factor above 0.95.
- Passive thermal management to 40°C / 104°F ambient — no moving parts over the canopy.
- Mounting height 6-24 inches above canopy.
- Five-year standard warranty, L90 beyond 50,000 hours.

Before you spec it
When is a bar better than a panel fixture?
When the room does not divide neatly into 4ft × 6ft or 4ft × 8ft rectangles. Bars let you match odd bench widths, run light down a row without over-lighting the aisle, and phase a build room by room. A panel like the TF 1000W PRO is fewer fittings and fewer hangs for a standard bench; bars are more flexible on an awkward floor plan.
How many DS400D bars replace one panel fixture?
By photons: 1,120 µmol/s each, so roughly two and a half bars match the 2,800 µmol/s of a TF 1000W PRO — but they cover 2ft × 4ft each rather than one 4ft × 6ft rectangle, so the practical answer depends on your bench geometry. Send a floor plan and target PPFD.
DS400D or DS120S?
The DS120S is a 120W bar for multi-tier racks at close pitch. The DS400D is a 400W single-tier top light. Same length, very different intensity.
Does it dim across the range?
Yes, 0-100% at the knob. Channel arrangement and external-control wiring for the bar range should be confirmed with us before you specify a controller.
