What we measured
The three artifacts a lighting plan is actually drawn from. Every figure below comes off our own spec sheet; where we do not have a measurement, the page says so instead of estimating.
What the Rolling Bench Seedbed 4×8 is for
An ebb-and-flow rolling bench: ABS flood tray on a 6063-T5 aluminium frame, hot-dip galvanised steel understructure, hand wheel and rolling bracket to open an aisle where it is needed. 4ft × 8ft is the stock size and ships from inventory; widths to 6ft and any length are built to the room. An extended frame option carries a lighting system over the bench.
What you get
- Stock 4ft × 8ft (1.22 × 2.44m) available from inventory; widths of 4ft, 5ft, 5.5ft and 6ft and any length built to order.
- Ebb-and-flow irrigation — the bench floods and drains rather than watering plant by plant, so every position on the tray sees the same feed.
- Materials specified throughout: ABS tray, 6063-T5 aluminium profile frame, hot-dip galvanised steel cross beams, stands, wheel beams, diagonal ligaments and feet, ABS corner brackets, bakelite steering wheel, nylon anti-tip bracket.
- Rolling on a hand wheel, with an anti-tip bracket and anti-clamp hardware as standard.
- Extended frame option for mounting a lighting system directly over the bench.
- Stackable in propagation, seeding and growth-chamber areas.
- Complete accessory set: tray, supporting frame, cross brace, aluminium border, water inlet and outlet, hand wheel, rolling bracket pipe and anti-clamp.

Before you spec it
What does an ebb-and-flow bench change operationally?
Feed uniformity and floor condition. Every position on the tray floods to the same depth for the same time, and the floor stays dry because water does not leave the tray. Whether that shortens your cycle or reduces your input use depends on what you are moving from — we will not repeat generic savings percentages we cannot evidence.
What size should I order?
4ft × 8ft is stocked and ships fastest. Beyond that, benches are built to the house: give us the bay width, the gutter or column spacing and your aisle requirement, and the bench is dimensioned to fit rather than trimmed on site.
Can I light it from the bench rather than the ceiling?
Yes — that is the extended frame option. It carries a lighting system on the bench structure itself, which is useful in a house where the roof structure will not take fixture loads or where benches move. The DS320G greenhouse bar is the natural pairing under glass; the DS400D in a sealed room.
Bench or rack?
A bench is single-tier and rolls; a Mobile Rolling Grow Rack is multi-tier and rolls, rated at 300kg per tier. Propagation and greenhouse production usually want benches; sealed-room leafy and clone production usually wants racks.
